Known as the “Williams- Hudgins” House in the historical book “Forgotten Gates” by Thomas Butchko, it states the earliest part of the home was built in the 1830s. The impressive two-story center hall front block was built in the 1850’s for the local prominent Dr Elisha Williams and his wife Mary. The Williamses resided in the home until their deaths. The eldest of the Williamses children born and raised in the home was Henry Horace Williams. Henry was a beloved and highly respected professor at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. During his career at Chapel Hill, Williams inaugurated the Department of Philosophy. When he died in 1940, Henry left his entire

estate to the University as an endowment for fellowships. The estate is still owned by the University and rented to the Chapel Hill Preservation Society serving as a living legacy to one of the giants in education at the University of North Carolina. The outlying property of the estate eventually became the well-known Horace Williams Airport in Chapel Hill.

As we approach 30 years of marriage, we give thanks to our Lord for the arrangements He has made throughout our life's journey together. Blessed with three boys, a daughter-in-law, two beautiful granddaughters, and a grandson on the way, we are so excited to share what has truly become a dream come true.

What started as an idea at our niece's wedding on a farm in West Virginia has come full circle. We never could have imagined the day would come when we would be able to share our desire to serve the community and be a part of your most special occasions. God had His hand in finding and providing this home and property, and we are deeply grateful.

Sunbury Farmhouse is a private, faith-based event, gathering, and wedding venue. We welcome you with open arms and look forward to serving you with a servant's heart.
